Drying is removing moisture from pipelines and is utilized for a variety of applications in both new construction and in lines previously in service. That’s because moisture produces rust or iron sulfide and is the catalyst for advanced corrosion in pipelines. Ninety-percent of the lines we manage are clean and dry, but removing excess moisture is a necessary precaution we take seriously.
JP Services maintains the standard dew point of -40, although we are capable of drying from a dew point of 0 to -80 utilizing dehydrated air and/or nitrogen. This ensures that all ambient air has been evacuated and the line is sufficiently moisture free to meet product dryness requirements. This is particularly important in new construction when the line will be dormant for an unspecified period of time in order to prevent corrosion until the line is commissioned.
